The book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 of 7

The book of Small Prophets Micah

Chapter 5

¹ Now you are walled around with a wall, siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike the ruler of Israel upon the cheek.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verse 1)

Oh God my beloved Father as humans and especially Roman Catholics and Christians we are constantly under siege, both internally and externally. During critical times our brain gives us thoughts that we are not to obey especially during moments of anger, our emotions, on the other hand, are also not reliable and may also at times get us into trouble, therefore, we need to cling to You as much as possible for only You can save us from our sinful selves. The media is another source of influence that at times can be both positive and even negative. Therefore oh God I pray that we be aware of such forces and always pray for Your never ending support in a spirit of prayer Amen.

² But you, O Bethlehem of Ephratah, who are one of the little clans of Judah, from you shall come forth to me one who is to rule in Israel, whose origin is from old, from ancient days.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verse 2)

Oh God my Father, your logic is different from that of the world, You humble the proud and raise the humble Amen.

³ Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has brought forth; then the rest of his kindred shall return to the people of Israel.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verse 3)

Wait, wait and wait, my life has become a waiting game, I am still waiting to see my daughter. As a parent, I imagine how hard it is for You to want to communicate with me and others and You get no reply. When one is in my position one will experience how hard it is. Amen.

⁴ And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they shall live secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth; ⁵ and he shall be the one of peace. If the Assyrians come into our land and tread upon our soil. We will raise against them seven shepherds and eight installed as rulers.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verses 4 to 5)

Oh brothers and sisters atheism is at its best and we are becoming more secular in our ways more than ever before. Even statistics are showing a decrease in the number of people attending mass regularly in the coming future. I pray that I remain faithful to You and that those who are attending mass realize what is happening during mass and do not attend mass, out of habit, or maybe so that people will not judge them Amen.

⁶ They shall rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the drawn sword; they shall rescue us from the Assyrians if they come into our land or tread within our border.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verse 6)

There are times oh God my Father when You permit a country or a region to experience prosperity under good governance and there are other times when You permit others to experience hardships. One asks how and why however only You have the answers to such questions and only You are in control of such situations for all is in Your hand and in You we are to place our trust Amen.

⁷ Then the remnant of Jacob surrounded by many peoples shall be like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, which do not depend upon people or wait for any mortal.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verse 7)

Oh God my Father, I pray that we learn to depend totally on You and not on the ways of the world, for such ways do not satisfy our thirst for You my God and Father Amen.

⁸ And Among the nations the remnant of Jacob, surrounded by many peoples, shall be like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep, which, when it goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, with no one to deliver.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verse 8)

Oh God, my Father as You well know, what is left of Your people of the old testament and their progeny and the Christians and Catholics are the remnant of Jacob. We are all walking towards heaven our promised land. On the way, we have many hurdles to overcome of which the greatest one is ourselves and our sin. However, we are not alone for You are my Shepherd Amen

⁹ Your hand shall be lifted up over your adversaries and all your enemies shall be cut off.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verse 9)

Oh God my Father You are my avenger, I am not pure as in being to enforce justice for I am also human. However, this is Your lot and not mine. Amen. I pray for Your justice and mercy my God and Father for I am a sinner and always at fault Amen.

¹⁰ In that day, says the LORD, I will cut off your horses from among you and will destroy your chariots; ¹¹ and I will cut off the cities of your land and throw down all your strongholds; ¹³ and I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you shall have no more soothsayers; ¹³ and I will cut off your pillars from among you, and you shall bow down no more to the work of your hands; ¹⁴ and I will uproot your sacred poles from among you and destroy your towns. ¹⁵ And in anger and wrath I will execute vengeance on the nations that did not obey.

(The Book of Small Prophets Micah Chapter 5 verses 10 to 14)

Oh God, my beloved Father, I pray that You destroy our weapons as if they never existed, all of our securities so that we learn to depend completely on You Amen.

I would like to end this meditation on the fifth chapter of the prophet Micah with the following prayer:-

Oh God my Father our life is a constant battle between the spiritual forces of good and those of evil, that do their best to make us sin against You. Even though we are surrounded from all sides by our enemy the father of lies and confusion, he is already beaten and is a loser. I thank You for shedding Your blood on my account in order to claim our redemption once and for all Amen.
